TEHRAN - “Trumping up the JCPOA is against the Sharia and law,” Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi said on Wednesday.

“We should follow either the Sharia or the law. If we follow the Sharia, the Sharia aspects of the JCPOA have been passed at the Guardian Council and also approved by the Supreme Leader,” Tabnak quoted the grand ayatollah as saying.

“Also, if we abide by the law and democracy, then the JCPOA has undergone legal stages at the Majlis,” the ayatollah stated.

“Yet still we don’t know how some people here and there criticize the Sharia and legal criteria.”

Slandering the negotiation team is illegal, he stated, adding that the JCPOA would better be considered as a closed issue.
